| Lakhanpur check post records 80 pc increase in revenue realization | | | Early Times Reporter

Commercial Sales Taxes, Check Post Lakhanpur, has registered all time high increase of 80 per cent in its revenue realization during April last on account of entry tax, security, penalty and passenger tax.
The department has earned revenue of Rs.1829.22 lakhs during April last as against Rs. 1016.16 lakhs earned during the corresponding period last year thereby registering an increase of 80 per cent.
The taxable imports into the state during April last has been recorded at Rs.1465.71 lakhs while as imports from Kashmir division during the period has been recorded to the tune of Rs.212.35 crores.
Giving details Inderjeet Singh, Deputy Commissioner Commercial Taxes Check post, Lakhanpur, said that the taxable imports during April last has registered an increase of 17 percent adding that the exports during the month were Rs. 897.51 crores as against the exports worth Rs.769.53 crores during April 2007 thus registering an increase of Rs.127.98 crores.
He said the imports by the industries sector, however, registered a decrease of 10 per cent during the month of April this year. The imports during the month stood at Rs.484.90 crores against Rs.537.12 crore during the same period last year.
He said during the course of routine checking, 2562 cases were detected under section 67(5) of J&K VAT Act during last month. Of these, 1043 cases were transferred to different circles of Jammu division and 507 cases were disposed off.
Addressing a meeting, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized and stressed upon the staff to adopt trader-friendly attitude and approach without compromising the realization of revenue as per the Act in force. He has also impressed upon the staff to clear the vehicles reporting at the check post in a time bound manner. |
