| Fire near High Court complex | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | May 3 Fire broke out near High Court complex in Janipur on Saturday afternoon, as wild bushes caught fire, spreading panic in the area. However there was no loss of life and property as the area does not have any human population.. Fire services department immediately rushed over half a dozen fire extinguishers to contain fire as it was spreading fast. After struggling for over one hour, the fire men managed to contain the fire. Official sources said the wild bushes behind High Court complex must have caught fire due to sudden rise in the level of mercury in Jammu region as mercury is hovering over 41 degrees for past couple of days making life difficult for the city denizens. However, Deputy Superintendent Security wing High Court complex AK Mahajan told media men that sudden fire was reported few metres away from the High Court complex around 12.30 p.m. He said electrical sparking in one of the transformers in the area must have triggered the fire. “We are still investigating the cause of fire”, he added. Meanwhile panic gripped the area as large number of people stopped their vehicles in the middle of the road to access scale of fire. |
