| Militants fire upon police party; jawan dies due to gunshot | | | JAMMU AUG-29- Some unidentified militants are reported to have fired upon a police party at Latti today and later made good their escape, one jawan died to a gun shot at ambush point, while a Bangladeshi national sustained some injuries while crossing border here today. A Police spokesman said that some unidentified militants hiding in the area fired upon a police party from Latti at Trasera Top area in Udhampur district. The fire was effectively replied and the encounter lasted for about half an hour. However, there was no casualty from either side. However, the militants managed to escape taking advantage of darkness. The Police during the search operation recovered one AK 47 magazine, 18 rounds of AK 47, four detonator fuses, one blanket and a bag from the encounter site. In the meantime, a Bangladeshi national Afeez sustained some injuries while crossing border at Ramgarh. A BSF constable shifted him to GMC Jammu for treatment. The spokesman said that a jawan of 9 Madras identified at Gan Gappa Marathi died due to a gun shot at ambush point and a case has been registered in this regard. A Forest guard identified as Lekh Raj resident of Palmod was killed on the spot when a speedy vehicle hit him near Dak Bungalow Kishtwar last night. Police seized the vehicle and arrested the driver on the spot.
