The woman guest of Directorate School Education, Kashmir, from outside the state, who was earlier stated to be running an NGO and was invited to various Higher Secondary girl schools in Srinagar for career counseling and was showing rosy picture to the girl students about prospects of lucrative jobs in the corporate sector outside the state, has ultimately turned out be a documentary maker on massage therapy, out to promote her product among the girls in Kashmir.
As reported in May 1 issue of this newspaper, under the news analysis, School Education Department Kashmir had invited a non local woman, claimed to be running an NGO, who moved by the stress and strain under which the Kashmiris, particularly the women folk are going, in the wake of present turmoil in the valley and who intended to help them come out of the trauma by taking up lucrative jobs outside the state about which she was giving counseling, is ultimately found to be running spa and beauty saloons outside the state about which she is giving the counseling to the school girls of higher secondary standard. This woman who was invited as a state guest to give counseling to the girls has sparked off a big controversy in the educational circles as well as among the parents of the girls. Inviting the woman for counseling girls was illegal since her credentials were not checked and the School Educational Secretariat had not given nod for the same, it is alleged. The school education department has since asked her to stop further counseling before the screening of her credentials, the women has responded saying that her credentials can be checked from her laptop.
The woman who claims to be Dr. Meenakshi Sharma from Indore now tells that she does not run any NGO as claimed by the Directorate of School Education Kashmir, but she is running a private trust, "Right to Pride" to serve the people of Kashmir. On her website WWW.righttipride.org Meenakshi introduces herself a woman into beauty and hotel industry. She is a complementary health and beauty professional heading a day spa and a couple of beauty saloons in Central India's finest chain of hotels. She also has to her credit few documentaries on holistic massage therapy and aromatherapy. She is a visiting faculty in Aviation academics finishing schools and schools for performing arts teaching and stress management, personal grooming paying special attention to physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual growth of her students. Besides helping the artisans in Kashmir her ambition includes setting up of finishing schools in J&K to groom and prepare youth for the modern world, as per details in her website.
Embroiled in controversy and under soup for inviting her for counseling to the 10+2 school girls, the school education department now shifts the bucks on the tourism department and claims that it were the officials in the tourism department who had introduced her to them. |
