| NGOs in Rajouri under scanner | | Police doubts misappropriation of funds | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | May 5 Scores of Non Government Organizations across border district Rajouri have been put under scanner as police doubts embezzlement of crores of financial assistance received from various sources including some foreign organizations. The investigations have been initiated by State,s Crime Investigation Department(CID) who doubt huge scale misappropriation of financial assistance received by these NGO,s. Sources told KMT that on the basis of initial investigations, Police have registered cases against the NGO's in concern police stations working at different places in the district. Sources revealed that the government took the decision to this effect after a non government organization claimed that some three hundred girls were involved in flesh trade in Rajouri town and its periphery which triggered a large scale protests in the town demanding investigations and action against the organization which according to them was a mudsling of the organization for its gains. Sources further said that CID has asked the NGOs working in the district to furnish all the records including the accounts for the last twenty years. The sources added that the NGOs working in the district have received crores of financial assistance from various central departments for welfare programs about which the organizations have no accounts. |
