| VC inaugurates computer lab | | | Early Times Reporter

The newly established Computer Lab in the Department of Statistics was inaugurated today by Prof. Amitabh Mattoo, Vice Chancellor of University of Jammu. The lab is equipped with 25 PCs and one server with Internet facility round the clock. The lab has also statistical computing software like Statistica and SYSTAT which provides advanced date analysis techniques.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. JP Singh Joorel the HoD gave brief account of functions of the lab and its use for the welfare of researchers in the field of Statistics and related areas. Mattoo spoke about usefulness of statistical lab for information technology revolution and addressed the students, scholars and faculty to make proper use of this extended facility. The Vice Chancellor also assured to provide three ACs and one water cooler to the department. Others present on the occasion were Prof. G S Sambyal, Prof. Ram Ji Tiwara, Prof. N R Sharma and Dr. P S Pathania besides faculty members and office staff of the department. |
