| PCC spokesperson’s statement a cover up operation: Hari Om | | ‘Demands dismissal of government’ | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | May 6 Sharply reacting to the Congress spokesperson’s statement that Congress MP Madan Lal Sharma has falsely implicated AICC (I) President Sonia Gandhi and Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad in the controversy over the circumstances under which Speaker Tara Chand and former JKPCC (I) President Peerzada Mohammed Sayeed, involved in the infamous Srinagar scandal, were allowed to go scot free, as also allowed to continue to hold official positions in the government, BJP State Vice-President and spokesperson Prof. Hari Om today said that whatever the Congress spokesperson has said is nothing more than a cover-up operation launched to save Sonia Gandhi and Ghulam Nabi Azad from the embarrassment and to make Madan Lal Sharma a scape goat. ‘Sharma is not that big man who could afford to concoct things and name Sonia Gandhi and Ghulam Nabi Azad’, the BJP spokesman added. Prof Hari Om said the BJP goes by what Madan Lal Sharma admitted in public about his role and the role of AICC (I) president and State Chief Minister and it once again reiterates its demand that the State government be dismissed forthwith so that the people are freed from the clutches of the immoral government. He also reiterated the party’s stand that AICC (I) President has to take the nation into confidence about the role she played which finally clinched the whole issue in favour of Tara Chand and Peerzada Mohd. Sayeed. The BJP spokesman said that if the Congress really wishes to come out of the awkward situation in which it has been placed by the unambiguous admissions of Madan Lal Sharma, it has no other option but to censure both the AICC (I) president and Chief Minister Azad. He said even this would not satisfy the people of the state, he said and added that they want all those involved in the sex scandal and those who shielded the likes of Tara Chand and Peerzada Mohd. Sayeed to be booked under the relevant law so that a right message goes that Congress does respect moral values. Commenting on the discussions between Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and PDP President Mehbooba Mufti on the divisive issue of self-rule in New Delhi, Prof. Hari Om said it is unfortunate that the Congress-led UPA government instead of breaking ties with the separatist PDP is cultivating it, thus giving respectability to the politics of separatism and communalism. He warned that any move on part of the Prime Minister to consider the self-rule proposal as put forth by the PDP would force the BJP to launch a full-scale campaign not only in the state, but at the national level. |
