| Sadhotra urges for assessment of loss to wheat crop | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | May 6 Expressing concern over the loss of standing and harvested wheat crop due to hailstorm and rains which hit some parts of the Jammu region last night, Ajay Sadhotra, Provincial President J&K National Conference, Jammu province has expressed his sympathies with the farmers and impressed upon the government to assess the loss of the standing and harvested crops. He was taking to a deputation of farmers who called on him here today at party headquarters at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan, here to apprise about the loss they suffered due to the yesterday's hailstorm and rains. While talking to the farmers, he said that it is unfortunate that the government is not paying any attention towards the problems being faced by the farming community. The problems being faced by them with regard to providing of quality seed, fertilizer irrigation water and other inputs in time were being continuously brought to the notice of the government but the government is watching all this as a mute spectator and is least bothered to redress the problems being faced by the farmers, he regretted. "They are making mere tall claims of availability of inputs, which is far from reality", he said. Sadhotra also sought compensation for the losses caused to the standing crop of the farmers of the region particularly Jammu and its adjoining areas. National Conference shall fight for the problems of the farmers and if government fails to provide inputs to the farmers well in time, NC will be left with no other option other than to come on streets to agitate for their rights, he added. |
