| Government neglects Urdu language, alleges RJMLS | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | May 6 Strongly criticizing the state government’s negative approach towards the official Urdu language, the Rasa Javedani Memorial Literary Society ( RJMLS) has threatened to launch an indefinite agitation if corrective steps were not taken at the earliest. The Society in a meeting held under the chairman of its president Prof Shobah Malik has alleged that Urdu being the official language in the state is not being taught in most of the government as well as private schools due to which the new generation is facing a lot of problems. Addressing the meeting, Malik said that despite Chief Minister’s tall claims on the floor of the House that the Urdu language would be given its due share but nothing of the sort has practically happened on the ground. Even the Urdu sign boards put up at the Minister’s offices during Dr. Farooq’s government have been removed by the present dispensation, he alleged. ‘If the government is not serious about its official language, it should quit’, he said and warned of an indefinite agitation. The meeting, among others, was attended by Aseer Kishtwari, Ravi Thakure, Ayaz Rasool Naziki, Sajjid Hussain, Vijay Kumar, Asiq Iqbal and Sawarn Singh. |
