| Panthers’ Women Wing alleges discrimination | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | May 7 A meeting of the political and social activists of the Women Wing of the Panthers Party was held in the Panthers Party headquarters this afternoon under the chairmanship of Anita Thakur, general secretary of JKNPP to discuss the discrimination against women by the State government as well as by the institution. Several women activists, educationists, artists and political workers participated as per release. A resolution was carried demanding the implementation of the law made by Parliament against domestic violence on women. Anita Thakur while addressing the participants accused the State government for its failure to provide justice to the women who are being harassed, tortured and even forces them to die. She said the so-called Women Cell in the Police Department has become a den of exploitation and harassment of the women and added that the dowry cases are being brushed by the police by helping the offenders. The State president of the JKNPP Bansi Lal Sharma, P.K. Ganju, S. Daljit Singh, Vilakshan Singh, were also invited to participate as special guests the release added. |
