| President likely to visit Jammu | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | May 6 President of India Pratibha Patil is likely to visit Jammu and Kashmir on May 16. This will be her maiden visit to the state after on her assumption of office as President of India. The president, reliable sources informed, is schedule to inaugurate Newly establish Bhaderwah University Campus and attend convocation of the Sher-e-Kashmir Agriculture University of Science and Technology (SKAUST) during her two day visit. It is pertinent to mention here that Patil would be visiting the state first time after becoming the first citizen of India. Well informed sources said that Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad invited Patil to inaugurate the Bhaderwah University complex, for which the nod of President was awaited. President's office has confirmed that Patil will inaugurate Bhaderwah University Complex at Bhaderwah, the home constituency of the Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, and attend convocation of SAKUST, Jammu, sources said. "We were not able to fix a date for the inauguration ceremony as the schedule date of visit was not confirmed from President's office", sources in the campus said. "We have been tentatively asked now to fix May 16 as the date for inauguration ceremony", sources added. Sources in the CM's secretariat said that the president has accepted the invitation to attend the convocation of the Agricultural University and inaugural function at Bhaderwah. The President after inaugurating the University complex will interact with students of the University. This will be President's first interaction with students of the Jammu and Kashmir particularly those from Jammu region. Former president APJ Abdul Kalam had also visited Jammu University to attend 11th Convocation of campus. |
