| Dejected principal ITI seeks municipal president’s help | | Machinery worth lakhs stolen six months back; police still reluctant to register FIR | | Early Times Reporter Kishtwar | May 7 Despite lapse of nearly seven months the Kishtwar police has not registered FIR in a theft case that took place in ITI here. According to Principal ITI, thieves had struck into the institute and decamped with machinery worth lakhs of rupees during the intervening night of October 15-16, 2007. Immediately after the incident the Principal had referred the matter to the Police station Kishtwar for registration of a FIR which till date has not been registered for the reasons best known to the authorities. The theft incident is itself a mystery as the security forces are campaign in the Institute and every passer by is frisked while coming and going to the Institute. The Principal of the Institute vide his letter No: ITI/KTR/129 dated October 16, 2007 had referred the case to the SHO Kishtwar for registration of FIR and taking up the investigation. After lapse of one month principal submitted a reminder requesting therein again to register the FIR and carry on the investigation. Director Technical Education J&K, Deputy Director Technical Education Jammu, and Superintendent of Police Kishtwar were also informed about the un-necessary delay caused by SHO Kishtwar for registering FIR. Receiving no response from concerned SHO from more than six months , Principal personally visited Police Station Kishtwar and submitted another reminder with SHO Kishtwar vide No: ITI/KTR/1412 dated March 29, 2008 requesting for necessary action under the relevant provisions of law. But still then no FIR has been registered in the case. After having failed to get FIR registered in the Police station, the Principal approached the Additional Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar with a representation copy of which was addressed to President Municipal Committee seeking their indulgence in getting the theft case registered and investigation taken up to recover the stolen government property worth lakhs of rupees. Despite intervention by the district administration and President Municipal Committee Kishtwar, the Police did not oblige to register the case. Taking serious note of the callous and indifferent attitude of the concerned SHO, the President Municipal Committee has taken up the case with the Chief Minister with the request that the case be referred to the vigilance organization to ascertain the facts as to why the police department has failed to register FIR despite repeated requests. |
