‘Nation’s Pride’ celebrates 150 years of Independence war

Nation’s Pride, a social organization working for promotion of Indian culture and spreading message of brotherhood organized a grand event to celebrate the 150th year of First Battle of Independence,1857.
Former Union Minister and senior BJP leader Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta was the chief guest while, Head of Department, Department of History, University of Jammu, Dr. Nirmal Singh, JMC Mayor Kavinder Gupta and prominent social figure Tilak Raj Sharma, were guests of honour.
The function started with the lightening of the traditional lamp followed by garlanding of the portrait of ‘Bharat Maa’ by the chief guest, guests of honour and Yudhvir Sethi, the Chairman of Nation’s Pride. A bhajan sandhaya was organized in which well known artists from different parts of the State presented a number of colourful events and religious and patriotic songs.
Nation’ Pride also felicitated several prominent social and political personalities of Jammu city. They included Priya Sethi, Dharni Dhar Sharma, Baldev Khullar, Arun Gupta, Onkar Seth, Vinod Malhotra, Sanjay Nagpal, K.B.Mohtra, Ravi Sharma, Rajesh Gupta, Chandan Gupta, Dy. SP Swatantra Arora, Mahamandleshwar Mahant Rameshwar Dass and Mahant ji of Dogra Hall Mandir.
Yudhvir Sethi, in his address, said that we attained freedom after making so many sacrifices. He said it is our duty now to ensure that no one from outside dares to raise an eye on our sovereignty and freedom. He asked the elders to make their young ones aware of the historical events which paved way for our independence and ask them to read about the great Indian heroes who sacrificed their life for the country’s freedom.
Expressing his displeasure over the change in the attitude of the young generation, Sethi said the educational institutions should also come forward to inculcate patriotic values in the minds of young ones so that they become respectable citizens and the country feels safe and secure.
