| Congress mother of all complex problems: Chaman | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | May 7 Asserting that the Congress is the mother of all the complex problems in Jammu and Kashmir, the former Union Minister and a senior BJ leader , Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta has ridiculed the appeals of the Congress leaders to the electorates asking for required majority for amending the State Constitution to grant citizenship rights to refugees from West Pakistan and sort out other problems including the appointment of Delimitation Commission for fair distribution of assembly seats to each region of the state. Interacting with a group of refugees and other activists here today, Prof. Gupta said that to pamper communalism in early fifties the Congress leadership created Article 370 in the Constitution despite warnings even by Muslims leaders like Moulana Mohani and other nationalists. Referring to the statements of the Chief Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad and others in the ruling junta, Prof. Gupta said for having fair and just elections in the state, it was a pre-requisite for having fair distribution of Assembly seats to each region and area of the state. But without ending political fraud being played against Jammu by the Congress, National Conference and their associates, how one can say the elections would be fair. He questioned that why they are not setting up a Delimitation Commission which also forms a part of the Common Minimum Programme of the ruling alliance of the state, and asserted that Congress is more guilty than even from the National Conference and PDP which has been cheating the people of Jammu region for decades together. They have been doing so even after conceding that there were regional disparities. About the claims of the Chief Minister, Azad, that his government had extended equal treatment to all the regions and sub-regions, Prof. Gupta said that what norms he had opted for creation of four new districts in the Kashmir Valley, especially when with quite small areas the Valley was already having six districts. How can the Chief Minister justify his wrong that three districts of Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban were having just six Assembly seats but there was no district in the Valley four to five assembly seats, he put a poser and alleged that this Congress led dispensation have virtually proved more communal and more anti-Jammu than the previous ones. Prof. Gupta asked the refugees and other activists that devoid of national outlook, the Congress cannot solve any problem to watch the national interests. As the things are developing, there are clear indications, that the Congress led governments, both in the state as also at the Centre, the more follies they would commit to harm the unity of the country as also the national interests. |
