| MCA XI enters semi-finals of JU Cricket | | Inter-Department Cricket Tourney of JU | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | May 7 Department of MCA (Master of Computer Applications) today qualified for the semi-finals of the ongoing Inter-Department Cricket Tournament of University of Jammu beating Department of Statistics by two wickets, here. Now, in the semi-finals, to be played tomorrow, MCA XI shall take on Department of Law. Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, Department of Statistics set a target of 140 runs in 18 overs game losing their six wickets. In reply, MCA XI chased the total in 16.4 overs with two wickets in hand. Jagmohan played fine innings of 45 (off 22 balls, 6x4, 2x6) runs while Rahul contributed 38 (off 32 balls, 4x4) runs. Vikas was most successful bowler from MCA with two for 24 in four overs. Arun and Sahil shared apiece each. Chasing a target of near eight-run per over, MCA attained the goal surpassing the opponent total with a boundary making 143 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 16.4 overs. Ashish played excellent innings of 32 runs coming off mere 16 balls including five boundaries and a six. Sahil too played match winning innings of 40 (off 32 balls, 3x4) runs while Vikas contributed 12-ball 20 runs including four hits to the fence. Ankit and Imran took two wickets each while Vikas bagged one. Today’s quarterfinal was officiated by Vijay Kumar and Ashwani. |
