| Govt Press staff holds token strike | | Striking clerks get support | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | May 10 To stress fulfillment of their demands, Ranbir Government Press Employees Association (RGPEA) held a one-day token strike, here today. During the strike employees led by the chairman of the association, Parshotam Singh Chib urged upon the government for implementation of technical grades in both the presses, at Jammu and Srinagar. Chib said that the association also supports the demands of the clerical staff who are on strike for the last 44 days but the government is turning a deaf ears towards their demands. He said the association appeals to the government to meet their demands otherwise they would also go on strike. Meanwhile, in order to express their solidarity with the striking clerks the all Jammu and Kashmir Agriculture Employees Association (AEA) also held a one-day token strike here today. While addressing the protestors, president of AEA, Uttam Chand Sharma urged upon the state government to meet the demands of the clerks immediately. Among others who spoke during the protest were Harbhajan Singh, Amrik Singh, Balram Singh, Jaswant Singh and JP Verma. The Medical Employees Federation has also decided to support the ongoing strike of the clerks. Addressing the members of the association, president of the federation Gurcharan Singh said that since the government is not prepared to meet the demands of the clerks, who are protesting for in favor of their genuine demands, the federation has decided to intensify the stir. |
