MAXX LYFE Hospital Jammu conducts Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy

Jammu, May 12: Dr. Rajive Gupta the eminent laparoscopic surgeon of Jammu has performed laparoscopic surgery for Gallbladder stones in a 90 years old woman named, Taro Devi wife of Shangra Ram resident of Sarore, Jammu at Maxxlyfe Hospital , Bathindi Morh, Jammu. She was suffering from recurrent attacks of pain abdomen due to stones in Gall bladder and has shown a number of surgeons, but nobody dared to take up the case for surgery keeping in view her old age. When she consulted Dr Rajive Gupta at Maxxlyfe Hospital for her unending pain abdomen, Dr Gupta took the courage and operated her by laparoscopic technique by just 3 key holes. The operation took 30 minutes only and patient was given oral liquids after 4 hours and was made to sit after 6 hours. The operation was assisted by Dr Ritvik Resutra, OT Assistant Yoginder and Anaesthesia was administered by Senior anaesthestist Dr Rakesh Anand. According to Dr Gupta, patient is behaving well after surgery inspite of her old age. Medical director of Maxx Lyfe hospital, Dr Dushyant Choudhary said this type of surgery in a 90 years old patient is very challenging and is rarely undertaken even at tertiary care centers.
