Early Times Reporter Jammu | May 10 Saraswati Sangeet Kalamandir, a premier Institution of Indian Classical Music and Performing Arts established by Late Dr. J.R. Sharma in 1949, presented “SARGAM” a programme of Music and Dance, here at Abhinav theatre Jammu. Gulchain Singh Charak, the Minister for Higher Education, J&K Government, was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Addressing the gathering Charak, said that this Institution has made commendable contribution in promoting the Indian classical Music amongst the masses, which is an integral part of our rich cultural heritage. Paying rich tributes to its founder, he described Dr. J.R. Sharma as Doyen of the classical Music, who produced number of disciples, presenting working in various Doordarshan Kendras Radio Stations and Institutions of Higher Education. He was a simple and through gentleman who devoted his entire life for the cause of Music. “SARGAM” the colourful extravaganza including Saaz aur Awaz, Group Song, Dogri Dances, Ghazal Santoor Recital, Mimiery, Solo and Duet songs, was highly appreciated by the audience. The participating artists included Vaishali Jamwal, Shivani Raina, Monika Mishra, Ramni Sharma, Asima Gulzar, Vertiba Sharma, Shradha Sharma, Pratima, Pallvi Raput, Rita Khadyal, Himani Gupta, Neelakshi Tuli, Surinder Kour and others. The Music was composed by Ravi Sharma, a noted stage, Radio and Television artist. The programme was compared Swati and Vijay Atri. Zaffar Iqbal Manhas, Secretary, JKAACL, Savita Bakshi, Add. Sec., JKAACL, Rita Jitendra, Raj Magazine and Kailash Mehra were also present on the occasion. |
