Jammu, May 13: A review meeting regarding the promotion of UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) was held at Jodhamal Public School Jammu. Gandhi Global Family J&K and Gandhi Peace Foundation Jammu Chapter, under the aegis of United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) New Delhi, have joined hands with seventeen schools of Jammu city to promote 17 UN Sustainable Developmental Goals (SDGs). In today's annual review meet, Each school representative presented power point presentation and video clips of allotted goals.
Alexander memorial School having their goal of ' No Poverty'in their presentation had highlighted the out reach activities initiated by their school including visit to Bal Bharti School, Nagrota and Prem Nagar Colony, Jammu comprising the weaker section of society. About 30 women were identified in these two areas they were living in miserable conditions with their children. To provide the help and employment to the women living in Prem Nagar area they were encouraged to enroll themselves in Women Welfare Centre Prem Nagar to learn some skills like stitching, cutting, toy making, beauty parlour, typing and stenography according to their age and capabilities.The students of the school also visited Women Welfare Centre, Prem Nagar run by Social Welfare Department, J&K and collected the information about the vocational courses available there.
