| Hakeem welcomes Pak Minister's statement on K issue | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | May 10 PDF Chairman and Minister for Transport Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen has welcomed statement of Pakistani External Affairs Minister that "Kashmir issued could be sorted out through dialogue between the two nations". Mr. Hakeem was addressing a public meeting at Khe, Khan Sahib in Budgam today. Mr. Yaseen said that his party favours free trade between India and Pakistan. He called for working out a mechanism to facilitate easy travel across LoC. He said the relation between the two countries was fast improving, which, he said, would have direct bearing on the internal situation of Jammu and Kashmir. He said opening of more routes across LoC would be instrumental for improving economic condition of the state. Earlier, the Minister inaugurated awareness camp organized by rural development department. He informed on the occasion that Rs. 2.62 crore have been utilized under Indira Awas Yojana in Khan Sahib tehsil under which 353 dwelling units. He further said that 50 development schemes have also been completed while 263 works are in the pipeline under SGRY in the tehsil with the expenditure of Rs. 6.87 lakhs. Referring to NREGS, he said that the scheme has been implemented in the entire Jammu and Kashmir state for providing employment to rural youth. He said more than 5000 people of Khan Sahib tehsil have been brought under the ambit of the scheme who are being provided 100 days employment. Rs. 2.68 crore were being incurred on providing employment to these people in Khan Sahib, he added. The Minister said that government was committed for equitable development in all the three regions of the state. He said massive development has been registered in power, water, R&B, education and other vital sectors. He said Rs. 19 crore would be spent on upgradation of Doodipathri road during current fiscal. |
