| Strengthen traffic police to check road mishaps: JSF | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | May 10 President Jammu Shia Federation (SF) and senior Peoples Democratic Party Ashiq Hussain Khan has urged the state government to increase the strength of traffic police, in view of the increasing number of road mishaps across the state of Jammu and Kashmir. In a press statement, issued here today, Khan said that traffic police arrangements across the state, especially along the National Highway 1-A and 1-B, should be reviewed on priority basis and more traffic posts shall be established to keep a check on overloading and over-speeding of the vehicles plying on the highway. The terrain of National Highway is accident prone and in such a situation the government has to take strict measures to ensure safe driving, the statement said adding that senior officials of the traffic police should also tighten their nose around their subordinates and responsibility should be fixed on the shoulders of officers under whose jurisdiction any mishap takes place. Expressing grief and shock over the massive road mishaps in Kishtwar and Doda districts, Khan said that politicians should rise above party levels and seek implementation of traffic rules strictly across the state. "Many precious human lives have been lost in the state in road mishaps and it was the right time when government should take strict measures so that number of such mishaps are reduced", he added. |
