| Gupta holds dynastic Congress responsible for all ills in J&K | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | May 10 The former Union Minister and senior BJP leader Prof Chaman Lal Gupta has held the dynastic Congress responsible for numerous problems in this part of the country. Addressing a meeting of the party activists at Doda he recalled that Maharaja of the State in 1947 had signed the instrument of accession to Indian Union like over 555 princes and Nawabs of the country but it was unfortunate that Jawahar Lal Nehru to pamper the communalism in Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah granted a separate status to Jammu and Kashmir. ‘This folly of the Congress gave birth to number of ills which have been growing whenever the dynastic Congress was in power, both in the state as also at the centre’, he added. About the BJP, Prof. Gupta asserted that the leaders of this party were always guided by national outlook and equal treatment to all irrespective of caste or creed but it was unfortunate that misusing their official positions the Congress and its pseudo secularist allies always tried to paint us anti-Muslims and what not but in 1977, when the Congress was humiliated at the Centre, even those Muslim leaders confessed that they were misled and the facts are otherwise. About the backwardness and other problems of Doda district and other hilly areas of Jammu region, Prof. Gupta pointed out these areas were religiously exploited by the Congress, National Conference and others to grind their own axis but the fact remains that these were neglected and still are the most backward even after expiry of sixty years of independence of the country although these are having unprecedented power potential because of mighty river Chenab and other streams, in addition to rich forests and mineral wealth as also charming places which could be developed to attract tourism. He regretted that a number of developmental works taken up for betterment of the people during the NDA regime and large numbers of Village Defence Committees were organized and thousands of posts of SPOs were created but after the change of guards at New Delhi many of the schemes have been scuttled. At the meeting the party activists including Prof. Gupta expressed grief and pain over the loss of so many lives in the road and other accidents in Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban areas. Everyone cursed the coalition for poor managements of the roads, traffic and other affairs. Those who also addressed the meeting included former MLA, Ghulam Qadir Wani and Mandal President Swami Raj. |
