Illegal cultivation of poppy straw destroyed

rajouri, May 15: In its fourth successful operation in less than a month against illegal cultivation of opium (poppy straw), Jammu and Kashmir police in Rajouri destroyed crop from a field in Challas village near Line of Control in Rajouri district.
A specific information was received by police that a woman namely, Rubina Kouser wife of Jahangir Ahmed resident of village Challas in Keri Doongi has cultivated poppy plants illegally in her agriculture land.
On this information, a cognizable report was entered in police post-Chingus Chatyar under sections 8/15 NDPS Act and a team headed by IC DySP Hqr Rajouri, Chowdhary Latif along with Incharge Police Post Chingus Chatyar, SI MD Khan accompanied by Naib Tehsildar Chingus Mohammad Hanif rushed to the spot and started operation.
After completing legal formalities of the spot, the crop was destroyed in the presence of the Magistrate.
