| Satpal demands Governor’s rule in state | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | May 11 National Bahajun Party headed by Dr Sat Pal, has appealed to the President of India to dismiss the Congress led Government in Jammu and Kashmir on charge of its failure to tackle the menace of militancy in the state. While referring to today's militant attack in a village in Samba sector, in which five persons were killed and six others were injured ,Dr Sat Pal said that militancy had raised its head in the state and this called for intensive counter insurgency operations. He said the coalition Government had failed to take in hand effective measures for countering terrorism. He appealed to the President of India that the state of Jammu and Kashmir be placed under the Governor's rule. He said militants, operating in the state, had felt encouraged by the growing constitutional crisis triggered by warring Congress and the PDP. He said there was no other way to handle terrorism except by dismissing the coalition Government and placing the state under the President's rule. The NBP leader said that the law and order problem had assumed serious dimensions which threatened the very survival of people in the state. He wanted the Army and the paramilitary forces to get free hand under the Governor's rule in dealing with the militants. |
