JU committee inspects temporary GDC accommodation

RAMBAN, May 15: A three member committee of Jammu University (JU) today visited the identified temporary accommodation in Government Middle School (GMS),Batote for granting the affiliation to the newly sanctioned Government Degree College(GDC), Batote to the UJ and getting the classes of BA first year started this year.
The Committee comprising of Prof. Jaspal Singh of Department of Distance Education, Prof. Anil Kumar Raina, HOD, Environmental Science and Prof. Khempal Singh Samyal had a round of the GMS and met Nodal Officer, GDC, Batote, Prof. Ravinder Kumar Ticku, Principal, Government Degree College, Ramban and examined the documents required for the affiliation under the University statutes. The committee sought details of accommodation, feeder Higher Secondary Schools and their enrollment, GDC faculty engagement, subjects proposed in GDC. A Degree College for Batote was among the 52 newly sanctioned colleges by the state government last year.
According to Nodal Officer, Dr.Ticku if the Committee is satisfied about the fulfillment of basic parameters and requirements, the admission for the BA first year will soon be started in Batote. The committee will submit its report to the Vice- Chancellor, UJ, subsequent to which the affiliation will be granted and admission to B.A Semester -I will be held for the current academic session. District Development Commissioner, Ramban, Showkat Aijaz Bhat has consented to spare the building of GMS, Batote, by making alternative arrangement for it, to run the classes of Govt Degree College Batote till the building of GDC is constructed. Degree College Batote is one of the 52 newly sanctioned colleges by the state government last year.
The committee members went ahead to Thathri and Padder for inspection of the colleges and resolved other issues related to the establishment colleges there.
