| Three terrorists killed, one jawan martyred in Pulwama encounter | | | Srinagar , May 16
Security forces killed three terrorists in an encounter, which started in the wee hours of Thursday in Dalipora area of Pulwama in Jammu & Kashmir. A fierce gun battle ensued after security forces launched an operation to eliminate the terrorists.
Northern Command released an official statement confirming the casualties. "Three terrorists were killed. One jawan is martyred. Weapons and warlike stores have been recovered. Operation is still in progress," Northern Command said in an announcement.
The operation was started in the backdrop of an increase in terrorist activities in the valley. On last Monday, militants hurled grenades at a polling station in Pulwama during polling was underway.
The security set up in the state has been on a state of high alert after the attack on CRPF convoy on February 14, 2019. After that central government alongside the surgical strikes on Balakot terror camp revoked security cover provided to political leaders with separatist ideologies. it also started actions to curb terror funding to the separatists in the State. |
