| Culture has to maintain its autonomous character: Manhas | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | May 11 To channelize the activities in the field of art, culture, literature and languages, the J&K cultural academy has to maintain its autonomous character, said secretary of academy Zaffar Manhas in an interaction in the writers and intellectual at K.L Saigal hall here today. Speaking on the occasion, Manhas said that to streamline the activities of the academy in its respective fields and to screen the real culture of the state of academy will focus on the activities as per its own constitution, and added it can’t be possible for academy will focus on the activities of the academy to grow with the support and hoped that academy staff, artists and writers community will work like a team and spirit of the academy. He also welcomed the suggestions and assured that these valuable suggestions would be seriously taken up. Earlier speaking on the occasion, Dr. Anil Shekhar, Hindi writer suggested for an independent translation cell should be established in the academy so that the multilingual and multi cultural integrity of our own state, known as mini India could be maintained. Prof. R.L. Shant said that our state is multilingual state so the languages should not be regionalized. The academy should focus on brindging the religional languages of the state. Khalid Hussain Punjabi short story writer congratulated Manhas for taking over as secretary and also applauded the efforts of Dr. Rafeeq Masoodi, for his contribution during his two year tenure as secretary. Others who spoke on the occasion include, Prof. Champa Sharma, N.D.Jamwal, Vijay Saraf, Kirpal SinghKasali, Mrs. Savita Bakshi, Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn conducted the proceedings. |
