| State fruit industry needs attention: Mir | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | May 11 Former minister and President of Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Party (JKDP) Ghulam Hassan Mir today said that fruit industry in the state being the back bone of the economy needed special attention which has not been paid so far to it. Addressing a political meeting of the party at Sopore, Mir favoured a concrete policy for developing horticulture in the state in general and Sopore in particular. He said there is no need of developing horticulture in the state in general and Sopore in particular. He said there is a need of developing horticulture on scientific grounds so that growers could yield better results and reap fruits in proper manner. This was Mir’s first ever meeting since the formation of J&K Democratic Party on May 7, 2008 at Srinagar The meeting was organized by Haji Mohammad Abdullah Dar and addressed by G M Bhawan, Nazir Khan and Dr. G M Mattu. Addressing the gathering the JKDP chief said another biggest problem which is facing is that of rising employment. Lashing out at rival political parties, he said that some of them have made their monopoly by encouraging dynastic rule in the state. Instead of delivering in a better and effective manner, these politicians, he said had been promoting and projecting their own families at the cost of deserving and credible ones. He favoured empowering people and decentralizing powers to win confidence of masses and give good governance. ”If this kind of governance is adopted, the governments, he said become accountable, which is the need of the hour. |
