| Street lights, urinals non functional, Kishtwar MC in deep slumber | | | Early Times Report
Kishtwar, May 18: Prominent political and social activist and President Public Awareness Front Shakir Saddiqui today snub officials of Municipal Committee Kishtwar over the non functional of street lights installed in Kishtwar city. He said that some of the lights have gone out of order and the concerned officials have failed to replace them. "This hampers smooth movement of inhabitants in city areas during night hours and causes immense problems to them" Saddiqui said added that the streetlights worth lakhs of rupees were installed in the Kishtwar and chowgan ground several years ago, but are not functioning. He said that both Municipality authorities and KDA has failed to undertake the maintenance of these lights. He said that from last one year he makes dozens of requests to Municipal Committee Kishtwar and KDA to replace these defunct streetlights, but everything goes in vain. Saddiqui further added that elected representatives headed by it's President are not doing anything right for the betterment of people as everything is in worest condition, like drainage, bathrooms, parking & street lights. "It is astonishing that Kishtwar is alone city where there is no Sabazi Mandi and no butcher Khana and also lacking in every field. This clearly indicates that the Municipal Committee is heading towards corruption. People have voted them with some expectations, but they fail to represent the voice of the masses" he alleged and appeals the Government of Jammu and Kashmir to look in the matter for earliest redressal. |
