| State becoming knowledge hub, witnessing revolution in education: Vakil | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | May 12 Welcoming the central government’s decision to grant three high level educational institutions namely Central University, Indian Institute of Management and campus of National University of Schedule Tribes in Jammu and Kashmir, the senior JKPCC Vice President and Minister for Social Welfare Mr. Abdul Gani Vakil has lauded the efforts of Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad in this direction. Addressing public meeting at Lopora Lolab on Sunday, he said education sector has witnessed a revolution during last two and half years. “Not only have 54 new degree colleges been sanctioned and made functional but under the fast track infrastructural development, college complexes for almost all colleges have been launched for completion in a fixed time frame between 18 months to two years”, he said besides this six new university campuses and three universities have been made functional in the state. Appreciating the unprecedented central assistance in this regard, Mr. Vakil said that this huge investment in the education sector would not only help the state to achieve the universilization in higher education alongwith elementary education, but also make the state a knowledge hub and seat of learning in the country. He said “the access to higher education has been made available to every student of the state whether living in far-flung area or in a town or city. The consolidation of quality education is other land marks to be achieved within next two to three years”. He asked the youth to take best advantage of educational atmosphere created in the state and attain excellence in the science and technology. Responding to the demand of locals regarding construction of Lolab road, Mr. Vakil assured that he would advocate the demand with the R&B Minister so that the genuine demand of the people was fulfilled. Mr. Sharief Niaz also addressed the gathering and threw light on the measures taken by Mr. Azad led government for achieving lasting peace and carrying forward development process with firm determination and commitment. |
