| Charak inaugurates scholarship scheme | | ‘Fast track infrastructure development of new colleges initiated’ | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | May 12 Minister for Higher Education, Gulchain Singh Charak has said that quality assurance in higher education was the basic aim of the government as such the first priority was given to the extension of higher education to every nook and corner of the state so that admission was guaranteed to every student across the state. This was stated by the Minister while reviewing the functioning of new colleges of Jammu division at a high level meeting held here this morning. Charak informed that the construction work of Degree College Complex Ramban would be taken up under double shifts and completed within 18 months. For this purpose the government has released Rs. 75 lakh. Later, the minister also inaugurated scholarship scheme at K L Saigal Hall. The function was organized by Society for Information Technology Development (SITD). Speaking on the occasion, Charak said that SITD is the foremost institution in India which has taken progressive steps to implement and impart IT solutions and quality computer education, ensuring information dissemination and easy accessibility to products and services on a pan-India basis. He said that SITD is fast growing to spread computer literacy to even the remote areas of the country. SITD has embarked upon this noble venture to popularize e-commerce in India by gradually moulding its students to become worthy students. He asked the management of SITD to provide quality education to students so that they become good citizens of the country. Stating that most of the institutions are only meant for minting money, he advised them they should concentrate on providing quality education, not on minting money. He cautioned that government is monitoring such type of institutes in J&K adding that if any institution is found indulged in any type of malpractices, it will be dealt sternly according to law. Among other, State Director SITD, J&K Mr. Manmeet Singh, Additional Regional Manager SITD Luckhnow Mr. Kaniya Lal, State Director Chandigrah Mr. Koushiak Sharma, teachers and students were present on the occasion. |
