| Rich tributes paid to Nirmala Deshpande | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | May 12 Akhil Bharat Rachnatmak Samaj (ABRS) Jammu, Chapter paid rich floral tributes to Late Didi Nirmala Deshpande, noted Gandhian who had shown light to the disillusioned humanity for creation of a peaceful world. Gandhian workers alongwith respectable citizens of the city gathered here to pay homage to the revered social leader and matchless missionary. They also prayed the almighty for granting her soul peace and pledged to carry forward Didi's mission of creation equal society to the masses. Speaking on the occasion, wife of Chairman ABRS, Jammu Mr. S.P Verma said that Nirmala didi had a special attachment with the people of J&K and had worked tirelessly for the return of peace and harmony in this state. He said that she had visited he state when the militancy was at its peak and interacted with various separatist leaders. He said that her contribution to world peace, amity and brotherhood is revered even by international community who have realized the relevance of Gandhi Ji's message of brotherhood and peaceful coexistence in the present times. Stating that the void created by the death of Mrs Nirmala Deshpande cannot be filled, Joint Director Information Mr. S. K Sharma said that her contribution for ameliorating the lot of downtrodden have earned her a place in the hearts of all Indians. He said that Mrs. Deshpande apart from being the chairperson of Raj ghat was also associated with a number of social causes for which she would always be remembered. IGP Retd. S. S Bijral said that the quantum of her services can very well be judged by the fact that not only her name came up for nomination to presidentship in 2007 but she is also a well known personality in international circles, he added.
