CU announces scholarships for the wards of teachers of J&K

Jammu, May 22: "With changing times and industry expectations, today's youth is getting attracted towards emerging areas such as Cloud Computing, Business Analytics, Information Security, AI which shows that the student is aware about the changing trends in employment" said Dr. R.S.Bawa, Vice-Chancellor, Chandigarh University during a press conference at Jammu.
Going beyond the scope of syllabus, today's youth want to learn latest technologies, prepare themselves for the international standards and wants to become a job provider rather than just being a job seeker, he added. Understanding the expectations and aspirations of today's youth, Dr. Bawa said, "Chandigarh University Gharuan has formulated a flexible choice based education system where they have option to choose from wide range of careers such as Campus Placements, Entrepreneurship, Going Abroad for Global Avenues or choosing research as a career option". City of Chandigarh and Punjab has proved to be safe & economical destination for pursuing higher education for the students from J&K, he further added.
The Vice-Chancellor today announced academic scholarships worth Rs. 10 crores which will be offered through an All India Scholarship based Entrance Test, CU-SAT (Chandigarh University Scholarship and Admission Test) that is currently being conducted online across 19 states. The All India Entrance Test would offer scholarships to more than 800 students in more than 50 Under-Graduate and MBA programs offered at Chandigarh University. In addition, CU has offered 10% academic scholarship to the wards of school teachers and university/college professors of J&K state as a mark of respect for their contribution towards building strong future for the nation.
While the University has continued 5% seats reservation in every course for the wards of serving/martyred defense personals. The University will offers academic scholarship upto 25% for the wards of the security/military/para-military forces who will be seeking admission in the various courses offered by the Chandigarh University.
The Vice-Chancellor informed media-persons that currently there are more than 1900 students from different parts of J&K who are studying at Chandigarh University which includes more than 1200 students from Jammu region. "The University has a regional office cum counseling center in Jammu and more than 3000 students from different parts of the state have taken career guidance from our team of professional career experts which shows that students from the region are well informed about the changing industry expectations and skills that are now available in market" Dr. Bawa added.
A team of professionals is available at University City Office through-out the year to help the students and guide them to choose their career after 10+2 or Graduation. The career counselling facility is available free-of-cost at Jammu City Office in which any matric, 10+2 or graduate student could walk-in for getting professional career guidance for which the student would undergo psychometric test based upon which they would be given Career Advisory Report that would help them to choose their field of interest.
