NIA confirms IS operatives in J&K, files chargesheet
5/23/2019 3:28:56 PM

New Delhi , May 23
The three militants of Islamic State of Jammu and Kashmir (ISJK), identified as Tahir Ahmad Khan, Haris Mushtaq Khan and Asif Suhail Nadaf were arrested by the local police in November last year for conspiring and trying to carry out an attack on the police team at the tourist reception centre in Jammu and Kashmir, against whom the National Investigation Agency has filed a chargesheet on Wednesday.

The chargesheet filed before a special court in Jammu, mentioned to have recovered three round grenades, fourteen live rounds, two pistols and an ISIS flag from the possession of Ishfaq Ahmad Sofi, Pervez Ahmad Bhat and Asif Nazir Dar, the three other accused in the case who have been killed in encounters with the security forces.

The Union Home Ministry handed over the probe in the case to the NIA, during which the probe agency stated the three to be active operators of ISJK, a Kashmir-based affiliate of ISIS.
