| Interstate drug peddler arrested, 250 gms heroine seized | | |
RAMBAN, May 23: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Ramban Police arrested n interstate drug peddler and recovering 250 gms of Heroin (Chitta) from his possession.
On a specific information, a special naka was laid at T chowk Banihal and checking and frisking were intensified. During the process of checking, one pedestrian coming from Railway Station Banihal towards Banihal town was put to thorough checking. During search of the pedestrian, 250 gms of Herion was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Mohammad Sharif son of Mohammad Rala resident Eid-Gah road Tehsil Malerkotla Distt Sangrur Punjab.
In this regard, a case FIR no. 60/2019 under section 8/21/22/NDPS Act stands registered at PS Banihal and investigation took up. During preliminary investigation, the accused disclosed that he had bought the consignment from Sangam area and was meant for selling to the youth of Punjab.
It is pertinent to mention here that in last one week, Banihal Police has arrested eight drug peddlers and huge quantity of Charas, Poppy Straw and some quantity of heroin (chitta) has been recovered.
The arrest and recovery has been made by Police team headed by Insp Aijaz Ahmed Wani SHO PS Banihal and Police Component team headed by Arvind Badgal Dy SP PC Banihal, under the supervision of Sajjad Sarwar SDPO Banihal, Sanjay Parihar Addl SP Ramban and overall supervision of Anita Sharma SSP Ramban.
