| People are fed up of Pak sponsored terrorism: BJP | | ‘Campaign needed to isolate and punish disintegrating forces’ | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | May 12 The massive bandh in Jammu and several other towns of Jammu province, which was observed on May 12 to register a protest against the brutal killings of senior photojournalist Ashok Sodhi and IDP leader Hoshiyar Singh and his wife in Samba, is a signal that the people of Jammu province are fed up with the scourge of Pakistan-sponsored terrorism and that they want the Union Government to abandon its weak-kneed policies and launch a full-scale campaign to isolate and punish those who are seeking to disintegrate the Indian state and killing innocent civilians. The nature of the bandh, which was observed voluntarily by all the people, irrespective of the political affiliations and religious faith, is also an indication that the people of Jammu province want the Union Government to give a free hand to the army and para-military forces so that they could eliminate militancy once and for all and law and order restored across the state. This was stated here today by the BJP State vice-president and spokesman Prof. Hari Om while reflecting on the people’s anger which they exhibited by observing a complete shut down and denouncing the soft approach of the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre and the Congress-led ruling coalition in J&K. Justifying the people’s anger and anti-government fulminations, Hari Om said that the people are absolutely right when they question the UPA government’s Kashmir policy, as also its policy towards Pakistan which, instead of reciprocating the Indian gesture, continues to support terrorism and extend all possible support to the Kashmir-based separatists and Right Wing Islamists. The BJP Spokesman also shared the people’s view that Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh’s formulations on Kashmir and his unflinching support to the PDP— which is advocating such pernicious ideas as dual currency, dual power sharing arrangement between India and Pakistan, self-rule, demilitarization, joint management and which is also acting as a Pakistani agent in J&K and supporting the militants’ cause—are directly responsible for what has been happening in the state. He asserted that the BJP is convinced that the Prime Minister’s insistence on irrelevant borders, joint management and on the so-called peace process with Pakistan, which is a failed and rogue state and which is also tottering very rapidly, has undoubtedly emboldned the anti-state actors, the likes of the Muftis included. Prof. Hari Om expressed the hope that the Congress would respect the people’s sentiments, rise to the occasion and not only snap ties with the PDP, the PDF and the Left parties, but also enact stringent anti-terror laws in order to eradicate terrorism. |
