Where are 14 militants who had recently crossed into the Jammu sector? If intelligence agencies reports are to be believed a group of 17 militants had sneaked into the Samba sector recently. Three out of them have been eliminated in the operations launched by the security forces at Kali Mandi in Samba on Sunday and Monday.
It is on the basis of these reports that the security forces have launched massive search operations in Hiranagar and its adjoining areas. In one village close to the border the police set ablaze vast fields of tall Sarkanda. The police, in fact, had received information that some militants were hiding in the village. As the security forces approached the village they dared not enter into the fields of tall Sarkanda fearing that the militants, taking shelter behind the tall plants, could open fire.
The men of the police and the BSF fired several rounds towards the Sarkanda fields but there was no movement spotted. Later it was decided to set on fire the entire Sarkanda field. Nothing was recovered from the area after the Sarkanda plants were razed to ashes.
Reports said that the rest of 14 militants, including some commanders, have managed to travel to Doda district where they plan to carry out armed and grenade attacks.
Meanwhile, security grid has been further tightened on the international border following reports that militants were planning to cross into Jammu sector from across Makwal and Khour. Official sources said that the security grid had been strengthened after reports revealed that Pakistani had reopened militant training camp across Suchetgarh in Sialkot sector. These militants were being prepared for infiltrating into R.S.Pura and Suchetgarh sectors.
Instructions have been given to the BSF to intensify night patrolling following reports that pakistan has deployed some troops on the international border. Between five to eight Armymen have been deployed in each border outpost and their job was to carrying out patrolling of the border which was in violation of the agreement between the two sides.Against this from this side of the border even the second line of defence, manned by the troops, stand withdrawn after the troops were taken to Hohiarpur for taking part in the ongoing Army exercises.
The security forces have been also directed to carry out search operations and regular checking on Mansar-Dhaar road, connecting south Jammu with Udhampur district. The move is aimed at preventing militants from carrying out attacks on civilians and political activists.
