| Guard arrested for taking bribe | | | Jammu, Aug 30: A guard has been arrested for allegedly taking bribe at Lakhanpur border checkpost in Kathua district, police sources said today.
A police team had intercepted a car carrying electronic goods from Punjab to the state in Kathua yesterday, they said adding the owner of the car Manoj Singh was asked how he had crossed the border without paying excise tax.
Singh told police officials that he had paid a bribe of Rs 2,000 to the guard at Lakhanpur and managed his entry to the state.
The police then arrested the guard, identified as Mohammad Sharief at Lakhanpur. |
