| Sumo driver arrested for smuggling liquor | | | Early Times Report
RAJOURI, May 24: Foiling a liquor smuggling bid, Police arrested a Tata Sumo driver and recovered 40 bottles of liquor from his possession.
A team of police headed by In-charge PP Rajouri city, SI Suresh Sharma under the supervision of SHO Rajouri Ajaz Haider and DySP Headquarters Govind Rattan was on routine vehicle checking duty near bus stand when a Tata Sumo bearing registration number JK08A-9167 was signalled to stop.
While cops started physical frisking of vehicle, driver attempted to resist it which created suspicion after which thorough frisking was conducted and liquor being smuggled was recovered.
Driver namely Mohammad Ayoub son of Mohammad Sadiq a resident of Rajdhani Manjakote was arrested on the spot while 20 bottles of liquor - 750 ml 10 bottles liquor - 500 ml were seized from his possession.
The vehicle has also been seized while a case under relevant sections of law have also been registered in the local police station. |
