| Kundal reviews arrangements for Santosh Trophy | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | May 13 Underscoring the need for maintaining coordination among different agencies for making elaborate and adequate arrangements for hosting 62nd Santosh Trophy Championship, Chief Secretary B.R. Kundal today asked one and all to extend warm and exemplary hospitality to the visiting players and associated staff. Kundal was chairing a high level meeting to review the arrangements being made to host the Santosh Trophy 2008 to be held in the state from May 25 to June 15, 2008. Describing hosting of Santosh Trophy a prestigious event in the State Chief Secretary directed the concerned departments to provide all logistic support to All India Football Association and JK Football Association to make this mega event a success. It was decided in the meeting that Secretary Higher and technical Education would work as nodal officer on behalf of the government and Divisional Commissioner Srinagar and Jammu would finalize all the micro arrangements in their respective divisions as per the instructions of All India Football Federation. It was given out in the meeting that four venues have been finalized and approved by All India Football Federation. At Srinagar matches would be held at Bakshi Stadium and Polo-ground playing filed while as Jammu they would be played at M. A. Stadium and GGM Science College. Out of the roster of 52 matches, 13 cluster matches would be held at Jammu and 39 matches including pre-quarter, quarter, semi-finals and final matches would be held at Srinagar, the meeting was told. It was further informed that about 651 participants of 31 teams from various states besides officials, referees and technical delegates would participate in the event. Secretary Health was directed to keep one ambulance and a van with oxygen cylinder available at each venue of the match, besides a mobile team of doctors be kept ready to meet any emergency. For other arrangements like water, electricity and sanitation the concerned departments were directed to put in place all the required arrangements. |
