| No power on earth can derail peace process: Mufti | | | Early Times Reporter Rajouri | May 13 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) patron and former Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today asserted that no power on earth can derail the peace process initiated by his party and the Confidence Building Measures (CMBs) being taken by both India and Pakistan would facilitate to restore lasting peace in the sub-continent. Addressing youth convention at Rajouri this afternoon, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed said that his party has carved out a new path of peace and tranquility in this region and it is high time for initiating some bold steps to further accelerate the on-going peace process. The PDP patron said that his party was credited with ensuring an effective role for the mainstream political parties in the Kashmir resolution process. He pointed out that reconciliatory policies being adopted by the PDP has yielded encouraging response for the solution of Kashmir problem. He further added that it was because of historic policies of PDP that the congenial atmosphere was created for initiating some bold steps in this sub-continent. Assuring the youth that PDP would carve out main role for younger generation in the decision making bodies, Mufti Sayeed said that youth of the State were feeling neglected but they have been facing trails and tribulations during the past two decades due to turmoil in the State. "The state's youth must now be brought on the forefront of change and innovation, and the PDP has taken a modest initiative on this direction," Mr Sayeed said and added that PDP was the first political party which has made a youth policy addressing the issues concerning the youth who grew up during the militancy. Mr Sayeed promised that PDP would devise the youth employment strategy, and employment insurance for the jobless youth. He also assured to form youth opportunity fund, organize regional youth conclaves across the state, and reorient the state's educational system. He also assured to provide opportunities for youth to be active partners in the decision-making, build leadership skills of the youth, link youth to planning and policy efforts, and also allow them to identify their own interests. Hundreds of youth participated in today's convention and pledged to work for spreading message of PDP in different areas of the State. Rajya Sabha member Trilok Singh Bajwa, vice-president Ved Mahajan, MLC, general secretary Dhaman Bhasin, Master Tassadiq Hussain, M S Tariq, Sohit Sharma, Maqbool Khan, Nassar-ul-Khan, Sajjad Tariq, Anjum Mirza, Ashan Mirza, Manzoor Sheikh, Naseem Khan, Shoukat Ali, Satnam Sharma, Javed Khan, Tariq Shawl and others addressed the convention. |
