| Mumtaz joins PDP | | | Early Times Reporter Poonch | May 13 Saying that he was impressed by the pro-people policies being propagated by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr Mumtaz brother of National Conference Surankote MLA Mushtaq Ahmed Bukari and son of former MLA Peer Jamat Ali Shah today joined the PDP along with his supporters in the presence of former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. Sayeed welcomed Dr Mumtaz in the party and hoped that with his joining the party would be further strengthened in Poonch districts in general and Surankote area in particular. Mumtaz is a popular social activist of Surankote area. He has been involved in various social activities in this belt for the upliftment and betterment of the marginalized lot of the society. Speaking on the occasion, Mumtaz said that he has taken this decision due to the policies and programmes of the PDP. "It is all due to the policies of PDP that peace, to a large extent, has been restored in the State", he observed and pointed that inhabitants of border areas have been living peacefully as PDP leadership has convinced both Indian and Pakistani governments to announce cease fire on Line of Control (LoC) and International Border (IB). Terming Mufti Mohammad Sayeed as crusader of peace, Dr Mumtaz said that policies being propagated by the PDP, for restoring peace, have been accepted at national and international forums and in this juncture it was necessary to strengthen hands of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. |
