| Azad faces public ire; cut short his speech | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | May 13 Chief Minsiter Ghulam Nabi Azad had had to face wreath of people during a public rally at Budgam today as people started raising anti-government and anti-Congress slogans. Reports reaching here revealed that the chief minister was addressing a public meeting in Budgam town when a group of audience started protesting against the Congress for what they called `Black Scheme' (Roshni Act). "Azad started highlighting his achievement during the coalition regime and termed the Roshni Scheme, launched by his government, as a master piece aimed at benefiting people at large", one of the eyewitnesses told News Agency of Kashmir. He said that this irritated some of the audience, which stood and started raising anti-Congress slogans. "This is a Black Scheme and it has added to our woes", one of the protestors shouted. As the chief minister continued with his speech, without giving much attention to the protestors, another group of ICDS workers rose to press for their demands. "Azad had to cut short his speech in view of the growing resentment among the audience", sources said. |
