Budh Singh’s anniversary observed

A function to mark 124rh birth anniversary coinciding with 33rd death anniversary of Mahatama Budh Singh founder of freedom struggle in Jammu and Kashmir was observed by Mahatama Budh Singh Foundation and State Forum for Justice and Human Rights here today.
Besides the chief organizer, Dr. Kulwant Singh, the prominent among those who attended the function included K D Sethi, Mangat Ram Sharma the health minister, Dr. S.S. Soodan, Director Doordarshan S. Anoop Singh of global peace mission, Prof. Dr. Sukhdev Singh, Lt. Colonel D.S Tehran, Prof. Dr. Devinder Singh, Prof. M.A Wani of Jammu University, S.S Bijral, S. Harbhajan Singh Tegh, Shah Mohd, Gurdeep Singh, and Surjeet Singh.
Sethi was the chief guest while Mangat Ram was the guest of honour. The function started with prayers and Shabad Gurbani by Devinder Singh.
Floral tributes were paid to the portrait of Mahatama Budh Singh. A two minutes silence was also observed.
Dr. Kulwant Singh spoke in detail on the life of the Mahatama and said that he was a revolutionary saint. Born in Hindu family, he embraced Sikhism at the age of 35 when he was a tehilsdar under the spiritual influence of his Sikh mother Kartar Devi.
The director Doordarshan paid rich tributes to Mahatama Budh Singh as an extra-ordinary and tallest personality of our times. Who devotedc all his life to the upliftment of poor and oppressed classes.
Balraj Puri said that Mahatama was a unique personality who received highest honour from all communities Sikhs, Dogras and Muslims in Jammu and Kashmir.
Comrade K.D.Sethi gave a message that Mahatama Budh Singh was the tallest politicicaland social reformer of our time. He was a true friend of downtrodden and working classes.
Mangat Ram Sharma paid tributes to Mahatama as an architect of National Conference and founder of freedom struggle in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that red color and mark of plough on the flag of national conference were the suggestions of Mahatama to mark his soliditary with the farmers and the working classes.
S.Gurmukh Singh Ex. Minister in his message paid his rich tributes to Mahatama, he said that an institution should be established to propogate the philosophy of the revolutionary saint.
Dr. S.S.Soodan, Professor Devinder Singh and Professor M.A.Wani of Jammu Universioty also spoke on the occasion.
