| LAHDC reviews achievements | | | Early Times Reporter Leh | May 14 A two day General Council meeting of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) under the chairmanship of Chief executive Councilor Chering Dorje began here today. The main agenda of this meeting is to review the last year’s developmental performances and to discuss the policies and schemes of the Annual Budget of 2008-09 under various sectors. The Annual plan of 2008-09 has been formulated at Rs 60 crore where under Rs 44.41 crore is proposed to spend for on-going works and Rs 118.11 crore for new works Rs 10 crore under loan Rs 4.31 crore under subsidy/incentives and Rs 2.69 crore under Raw material and drugs etc. Welcoming the members of LAHDC in the newly constructed Council Assembly Hall, the CEC Dorje expressed satisfaction over the last year’s expenditure which was registered Rs 57.50 crore against the allocated Rs 65 crore representing 88.33% expenditure. He said that the council under this year’s plan, would give top priority to complete the ongoing projects besides taking in hand some importantly needed developmental projects. He urged all the members irrespective of different political affiliation to work cooperatively for the over all development of Leh district and for the welfare of its people. While making threadbare discussions and constructive criticism on last years developmental performances in their respective constituencies, the Councilors put forth valuable suggestions and ideas to accomplish the incomplete works. Besides, they also submitted numerous new project proposals in the House of General Council. In support to get recognition to the Sowa Rigpa Medical System under Indian Medicines of AYUSH the General Council has unanimously passed a resolution which was moved by Councilor Lamayouru Tsewang Gonbo and seconded by all the councilors. The executive councilor Agri/Education T. Norboo Lampa, Executive Councilor Health, Dorje Motup, Executive Councilor, Forest, Mohd. Khan, Executive Councilor, Food and Supplies, Stanzin Delex, Member Parliament, Thupstan Chhewant, MLC, Leh P Nangyal, the councilors of LAHDC, the Deputy Commissioner, Leh, M K Bhandari and the district officers attended the meeting. |
