| Employment for youth to be thrust area of NC: Farooq | | Condemns Jaipur serial blasts; urges people to keep clam | | Early Times Reporter Rajouri | May 14 Criticising the coalition government for its failure to address employment issue in the state, former chief minister and patron National Conference Dr Farooq Abdullah today said that solving unemployment problem shall be thrust area of his party. Abdullah addressing a public meeting at Dungi and Kaller in Rajouri District said that the tall claims of the coalition government has fallen flat and now as the elections are drawing nearer the PDP-Congress government was trying to raise the unemployment problem, which has emerged as one of the biggest challenge in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, for its short term political gains. Coalition government, he said, has made false promises with the people of the state especially to the youth. "It is unfortunate that even after more than five years of coalition regime the government was yet to form a concrete employment generation policy to meet the challenge". The govt lacks vision, he said, adding that coalition government was ruining career of youth in the state by frustrating them, he said adding that attempts were being made to befool people again as the state assembly elections were drawing nearer. "What happened to the promises made by the coalition alliance in the last assembly elections", he asked adding, "Unemployment continues to hunt the youth, who were already facing bloodshed and violence". The coalition alliance in last assembly elections, he said, had pledged to provide one job to every household in the state but the promise turned out to be hollow". Emphasizing the need of job oriented education in the state, Dr. Abdullah said, "The priority of my party will be to train skill hands by opening technical institutes in remote and far flung areas so that in this age of technology, technical hands could be produced and easily adjusted and government and private sectors". "The employment packages would not only be for the educated class but it will also cover the youth having qualification of middle and secondary school, belonging to the far flung areas of the state", and will also take into consideration all important aspects so that the job opportunities will keep its pace with the increasing population growth", he informed Terming the Jaipur incident as an attack on the integrity and unity of the country, Dr. Abdullah strongly condemned the incident and expressed deepest sympathies with the families of the deceased and those injured and demanded highest level of probe by the Government of India and the State government to trace out culprits. Appealing the people to keep calm and cool, Dr. Abdullah said "Unity and integrity are the basics of our heritage and we should remain cautious about the elements, who want to create a divide among us. We should uphold the traditional communal brotherhood and secularism at all times". |
