| Doc suspended as man dies after operation; FIR registered | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | May 14 A man died allegedly of medical negligence in a government hospital, where he was operated for stone, sparking off protest demonstrations by the family members and friends outside Government Medical College Hospital, Jammu. Sources said that a middle aged man Rajesh Gupta son of Vijay Gupta was admitted in Sarwal hospital, where he was operated for stone with laparoscopic technology, on Tuesday. However, soon after the operation the patient suffered severe bleeding and was rushed to Government Medical College hospital in critical conditions. Sources revealed that Rajesh suffered a cut on a blood vessel during the operation which deteriorated his condition and he breathed his last in the GMC Hospital, Jammu, on Wednesday morning. Soon after the death, friends and family members of the deceased staged a protest demonstration outside the hospital demanding action against the erring doctors, who were responsible for his death. Sources added that the protestors were pacified only after the authorities ordered suspension of the concerned doctor till further inquiry. In the meanwhile, an FIR has been lodged at Police station Bakshi Nagar against the doctor for allegedly causing death due to negligence. |
