| Sports season starts with cricket tourney at KU | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | May 14 Come spring and the Kashmir University (KU) buzz with sports activities. To begin with snow skiing, the Department of Physical Education has organized an Inter-Department Cricket (Twenty-20) Tournament on the Campus. Finding sports as a medium to interact, to entertain with co-students and most importantly the character building, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Riyaz Punjabi has expressed satisfaction over the way various sports events are being organized with the onset of spring. To justify that sports play an important role in one’s life, the VC quoted Albert Campus saying "What I know most surely about morality and duty of man, I owe it to sports". The University organized an 11-day long snow skiing course which ended just last month. In this camp, around 30 students from various departments and affiliated colleges participated. “In the coming months, we will be able to conduct all inter-departmental, inter-college tournaments besides Kayaking, Canoeing, Water Skiing, boating and swimming competitions,” said, Director Physical Education and Sports, Dr. Khurshid A. Tarzan. For the first time in the history of Kashmir University a horse polo championship is being organized on the Campus in collaboration with Horse Polo Association of Drass, he informed. |
