| BJP wants review of peace process before Parnab’s Pak vsit | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | May 15 The state Unit of the BJP on Thursday urged Congress led UPA government to review process of peace process with Islamabad in the light of fresh militant strikes in Jaipur and Samba. Involvement of cross-border agencies have been suspected in both the incidents. In a press statement issued here today state BJP Vice President and party spokesman Prof Hari Om said that it is time for the Congress-led government to review its stand on the on going so-called peace process with Pakistan and ask Foreign Minister Pranab Mukherjee to cancel his scheduled visit to Islamabad. He said Pakistan is determined to foment communal troubles in India by taking recourse to violent methods and pushing in more and more infiltrators. BJP State Vice-President & Spokesman Prof. Hari Om made this suggestion while reacting to the unprovoked firing in Tangdhar in North Kashmir. Meanwhile, other senior BJP leader and former Union Minister of stat e for defence Prof Chaman Lal Gupta has said that one should not expect much out of the ensuing visit of Foreign Affairs Minister, Sh. Pranab Mukherji to Pakistan to have talks with the civil government leaders there as in that country more is in hands of the army and the ISI which have always been calling the shots. In this regard, Prof. Gupta recalled that in late nineties when the then Prime Minister, Sh. Nawaz Sharief was talking peace and friendship, the Army there had enacted the Kargil war and mass killings in Rajouri and other areas by the ISI sponsored ultras. Prof Hari om said the May 13 statement of the Indian Defence Minister A.K. Antony that Pakistan will export more infiltrators into Jammu and Kashmir to disrupt the ensuing assembly elections and the similar statements made by the Army, the BSF and the state police should simply serve to demonstrate that things in Jammu and Kashmir are likely to deteriorate to the extent that the Pakistani-sponsored agents of death and destruction may intensify their subversive activities across the state. Prof. Hari Om said that the BJP is shocked over the vague response of the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister to the gory incident which took place at Jaipur and said by not naming the rogue state both of them have not only played with the sentiments of the people across the country but have again exhibited their belief in policy of appeasement and fake secularism. He said the need of the time is not only to abandon the dangerous peace process with Pakistan but also to rein in all such elements in the government who are vitiating the state’s political scene by raking up the issues of autonomy, self-rule, demilitarization, dual currency and so on. He further said that the Union Government must take a firm stand on the scourge of terrorism and on Pakistan which is behind all the acts of terrorist violence in the state and elsewhere in the country so that a right signal goes that the Indian state has the ability and the necessary courage to take on anti-India forces. |
