Expressing grief and anguish over loss of innocent lives in Jaipur and Samba incidents, former Chief Minister and patron of the Peoples Democratic Party Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today said that these cowardice acts orchestrated by those forces who are opposed to the on going peace process.
Interacting with media persons after paying floral tributes to photo journalist Ashok Sodhi at Ashok Sodhi Memorial Library in Press Club, here, former Mufti said that motive of the perpetrators of violence seem to be to create fear among people to derail the peace process. He, however, asserted that such attempt would not allow to be succeeded by the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
"These barbaric incidents of violence aimed at to stall the peace process", he cautioned but hastened to add that such cowardly acts will not weaken resolve of the people of Jammu and Kashmir to restore lasting peace in this region and the on going peace process will be taken forward any cost.
Pointing towards the scheduled visit of Foreign Minister, Pranab Mukherjee to Pakistan, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed that these dastardly acts are aimed at disrupting the congenial atmosphere which has been developed after Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) taken by both the countries for furthering the agenda of peace and composite dialogue.
PDP patron sounded confidence that despite recent incidents, both the countries would continue their efforts for solving the Kashmir problem. He further hoped that forthcoming visit of Pranab Mukherjee in Pakistan would be historical as rulers of new regime in Pakistan have also expressed their desire to further strengthen relation with India.
Severely condemning lost of lives in Samba and Jaipur incidents, Mr Sayeed there was no logic behind such dastardly acts in a civilized society that brings only death and misery.
Stating that enemies of peace would continue to make effort to derail peace process, Mr Sayeed today called upon the people to jointly defeat their machinations and ensure that they don't succeed in their designs. "We won't be deterred by the efforts of the enemies of peace", he said and asserted to accelerate the process of normalcy.
Mufti Mohammad Sayeed along with senior leader of the PDP earlier visited house of photo journalist of Daily Excelsior Ashok Sodhi.
